Two of our favorite pies

Hi everyone,

Hope things are going well for you and your family. Things have finally begun to settle down here around the house, shew! I know last time I wrote you soccer season had ended and some great spring weather was finally moving in, course lately it's been a little quirky with warm days and cool nights, but I sure enjoy seeing more sunshine that's for sure.

With these warmer days it got me thinking about some of the spring and summer desserts my grandmother used to make and I decided to share these with you. These have always been favorites, not just of our family, but all those visitors my grandmother would have over on Sunday afternoons after dinner. Sitting on the porch with a cool breeze coming through the screen, my grandmother sitting in her favorite chair, you know the big cushion’s with the rose colored floral patterns, and me sitting in the rocker that was to big for me grinning like a mule chewing on a barbed wire fence eating my pie.......=)

I hope that you enjoy these delicious treats as much as I do.

Pumpkin Pie (this one can be used to make a great sweet potato pie too)

Let me know what you think of these recipes, I am always looking for feedback oh how they worked out for you and the family.

Until then, keep the oven cranking and and eye open.

Thanks,

Two new delicous pie recipes

Well, we have taken a turn here and gone into pie's now (at the urging of my son) these two pies are absolutely great. The blackberry chess pie brings back so many memories of me as a child "helping" my grandmother in the kitchen with blackberry stained hands and lips...=)

I hope you enjoy these as much as we do and would really like to get some feedback on how these recipes worked out for you.

A perfect addition to any dinner

Hey guys,

I was looking around to see what we could do to make our leftovers more appealing (without a bunch of work) and to make things go farther.

When I was young EVERY dinner had bread. It was either slices of white loaf bread or it was homemade biscuits. My mom was so good at making these she always made it look so easy to make them.

My dad used to eat them with honey and butter, or even onions and buttermilk....(don't ask me why) anyhow I figured I would take a shot with one of the recipes from our upcoming book, all I can say is WOW!

These biscuits didn't make it half way through the meal, so I figured I would post this one on our site for everyone to try.

http://hiddenrecipes.homestead.com/angel_biscuits.pdf

I hope you like them and find a way to include them into as many meals as possible. While delicious, they also will make the meals go farther and are easy to make.

The only thing you need to figure out will be the portions, once you get this down you will be able to crank them out easily no matter how many or few people you have at the table.

Until next time,

Bird
